The proliferation of TV technologies are pushing video to an unlimited audience. As a result, the TV industry has merged into mega-conglomerates and invested billions of dollars in additional programming. This is a new golden age for TV programming and 24/7 viewing.

Jayar Donlan, Executive Vice President, Advanced Media Group, WWE: Jayar Donlan is a seasoned digital and technology professional. After starting at WWE as Vice President, Social Media in April of 2013, Donlan was promoted to Executive Vice President, Digital and Social Content, overseeing a team of 90 that is responsible for digital content, video, design and social media reporting directly to WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon. Jayar has played a key role in developing WWE into one of the most-followed and influential brands in the world. Under Jayar’s leadership, the social media team has grown and flourished, helping WWE increase its social footprint to a total of more than 850 million combined followers and making WWE the No. 1 sports channel on YouTube. During his tenure, WWE’s digital and social media teams have been honored with more than 100 awards or nominations. Last year, Jayar was recognized on Ad Age’s 40 Under 40 list and the Leaders In Sport 40 Under 40 list. This year, he was named Digital Executive of the Year by Cynopsis Sports. Jayar is a member of the board of directors for Boys & Girls Club Stamford. He leverages his professional experience to help Boys & Girls Club achieve their mission to enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. Prior to joining WWE, Donlan was Vice President of Analytics at MXM Social and served as a member of the MXM Social Leadership team, helping shape strategy for a number of entertainment and sports clients, including NBC, Disney and Sony. Jayar is a graduate of Georgetown University.

 

Saul J. Berman, Ph.D. is Partner & Vice President, Global Service Area Leader for Strategy & Transformation within IBM Global Business Services (GBS). In this role he works closely with major corporations around the globe on strategic business issues. He leads a worldwide team of IBM consultants focused on delivering business value through business, technology and operations strategy engagements as well as organizational change initiatives. Prior to this role, Dr. Berman was the Lead Strategy Partner for the Media and Entertainment Practice as well as a Global Strategy & Change Services Leader at IBM GBS. Before joining IBM, Saul was the Global Strategic Change Leader at PwC Consulting. He was also previously with The Boston Consulting Group, a divisional Vice President with Broadway Department Stores and an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Southern California. Dr. Berman has more than 25 years of consulting experience advising senior management of large corporate and start-up organizations. He has directed engagements addressing issues of strategy, organization, and operations. He has worked extensively on issues of competitive positioning, differentiation, new business plans & strategies, new business models, growth, operational & cost improvement, operations/ manufacturing strategy, organizational design and enterprise transformation. His clients have included most of the major media companies as well as internet companies, telecommunication companies, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers and automotive companies in the United States, Japan, Europe and Australia. Dr. Berman holds a Ph.D. in Management and Information Systems and a MBA in Production Systems and Operations Research from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania,. A frequent speaker to industry and strategic planning organizations such as the World Economic Forum, MIPCOM, Consumer Electronics Association, McGraw Hill Media Summit, the National Association of Broadcasters, Online Publishers Association and Digital Hollywood. Dr. Berman was named as one of the Top 25 Consultants of 2005 by Consulting Magazine & Top 50 Marketing executives over 50 by Global CMO Magazine. He is also an editorial advisory board member for Strategy & Leadership Magazine. Additionally, Dr. Berman served as a board member of the USC Film School Entertainment Technology Center, and of the Southern California chapter of the Strategic Leadership Forum. He has also authored numerous books and publications including Not For Free: Revenue Strategies for a New World, published by Harvard Business Review Press, and the recent IBM studies: “Beyond Digital - Connecting media and entertainment to the future,” IBM Institute for Business Value, 2012 and “The Power of Cloud - Driving business model innovation,” IBM Institute for Business Value, 2012.

 

Matt Smith, Executive Director, Business Development & Strategy, Comcast Technology Solutions: Matt Smith is a recognized digital media industry evangelist and thought leader, having spoken at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, IBC, TVNext, Streaming Media East & West, NewTeeVee and Digital Hollywood among others. Matt has held a variety of key roles in video technology in his career.  He’s presently involved in Strategy and Business Development for Comcast Technology Solutions, helping to solve the most complex problems facing video providers today, leveraging the massive scale and expertise of the Comcast platform. Previously, Matt was part of the leadership team at Brightcove, one of the largest online video platforms on the market. He also served as senior staff and Chief Evangelist for Anvato – a turnkey video platform solution that was acquired by Google in 2016. Prior to Anvato, Matt was Vice President, Technology for Chideo – a next generation network for charitable giving, connecting fans with the personalities they follow and providing exclusive media experiences on any screen.  Chideo is founded by Internet pioneer and billionaire philanthropist Todd Wagner. Previously, Matt was Vice President, Internet Television at Envivio, Smith worked closely with premier customers and technology partners like Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, to ensure that key digital media strategies are carefully planned and brought to market quickly & successfully. In addition to his architectural duties, Matt has deep expertise in the adaptive bitrate technologies that are revolutionizing the streaming and digital media spaces. Prior to joining Envivio, Smith was an Architect at Cisco Systems and Vice President and Chief Systems Architect at Inlet Technologies. Prior to Inlet, Smith served as a key video architect and evangelist for Yahoo!, where he worked for 9 years, designing, delivering and managing leading-edge video compression technologies and workflows to execute live events and create other digital media offerings. Prior to Yahoo!, Smith spent several years at NBC, first at the affiliate level and later with the network.

 

Mitch Weinraub, Director - Advanced Video Products, Dish Network: In his 20+ years with Comcast, Primestar (purchased by DirecTV in 1999), Insight Communications (purchased by TWC in 2012) and DISH Network he has held roles in product development, business development, new media and operations management. Regardless of title, Mitch usually focuses on the invention, business case development, construction and launch of new technology products or new lines of business. Most recently, Mitch lead the team that developed and launched (at CES 2017) the revolutionary AirTV Player that combines OTT and OTA services in a single simple device. Mitch speaks regularly at national and international industry conferences and has had papers published by the National Association of Broadcasters, the National Cable Television association and the Society of Cable Television engineers.

 

Markus Fritz joined Eutelsat in June 2013 as Director of Commercial Strategy and Marketing. In this role, Markus is responsible for further developing Eutelsat’s commercial strategy internationally, including market development and research, business intelligence, product management and pricing as well as marketing communications. He is also responsible for developing strategic marketing partnerships with customers. Markus has over 20 years of international experience in the satellite, ICT and consumer electronics industries. He has also provided strategic and commercial services across EMEA and South-East Asia and held leading roles at Executive Board Level of ZVEI, the Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association and was also Vice President of Digital Europe, an association representing the digital technology industry. https://lu.linkedin.com/in/markusfritz/

 

Terry S. Bienstock, CEO, Mobilactive Media, LLC.: a New Jersey-based distributor of managed application publishing and secure remote access solutions for business and consumer markets. WorldExtend has revolutionary products to deliver to a business a low cost software-based VPN, and has developed a virtual computer on a TV set to bridge the Digital Divide. He also manages and advises other ventures relating to new media platforms, such as Video-on-Demand, digital video recorders, broadband and mobile services. Prior to this, he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Law and Government Affairs, for Comcast Cable Communications in Philadelphia. In this position, he maintained business responsibility for Comcast's Video on Demand platform, Comcast University and claims management. He was also responsible for overseeing the Law department for the country's leading cable and broadband communications provider, advising senior management on legal and business issues, and for Comcast's state and local government affairs in the 5000 communities and 41 states in which it did business. Prior to joining Comcast, for 23 years Bienstock was in private practice, serving as lead counsel on numerous major communications, First Amendment and property rights cases for most of the top media and cable companies, and lead high visibility cases, from the first fully televised trial in the U.S. to the Noriega tapes case for CNN. He pioneered litigation in the cable television industry for operators, programmers and equipment manufacturers, and successfully prosecuted cases on theft of service, copyright and trademark, premises access, franchising, franchise modifications, transfers, renewals, leased access and other constitutional and Cable Act issues. He has over 100 reported decisions to his name. A graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1975 and the Rutgers-Camden School of Law in 1978, Bienstock has authored several articles in leading legal publications on cable issues such as theft of service, franchising and access to premises. He regularly lectures at numerous national trade associates and legal conferences on various communications, media, regulatory, law department management and litigation topics, and at business conferences on new media topics
