Karene Jullien, Corporate & Intellectual Property Attorney: Born and raised in the French Alps, Karene came to the United States after high school for a one-year exchange program and never left. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver in 2003. She holds the New York and Colorado Bar. After graduation, Karene took the role of VP of Business & Legal Affairs for Mandalay Digital Group, a digital content distribution start-up in Los Angeles. There she worked across multiple legal disciplines in a rapidly evolving area of the industry, and was witness to the birth of digital distribution and new media. During her years with Mandalay, she cultivated a wealth of experience with the entertainment industry and a deep understanding of its many facets, from licensing and distribution to the development and protection of technology. Since leaving Mandalay to establish her own firm, she has provided business and legal support to both start-up and established media and technology companies worldwide. Karene is a member of the Digital Committee of Women in Film and an Advisor on the Board of Advisors of Digital Hollywood.

 

Alex Zeldin, Co-Founder French Mustache: Alex Zeldin is a writer and producer who co-founded the production company French Mustache with his producing partner Julien Lasseur. Alex and Julien have produced videos for Proctor & Gamble, Buzzfeed, Deloitte, TruTV, Oracle, SAP, Pizza Hut, Tito’s Vodka, Fossil Watches, Bravo, Funny or Die, and TimeXtender among others. On the narrative side, French Mustache produced the Emmy-nominated web-series Everyone’s Crazy But Us starring Diedrich Bader, Janet Varney, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kate Walsh. French Mustache also produced the television series D-Sides for TruTV alongside Thank You Brain! Productions. Alex has written for the television show Billy on the Street, the web-series Honest Trailers, and is currently writing a feature length road trip comedy with Steve-O from Jackass. Outside of work, Alex spends his time going to 90s rock concerts, obscure minor league sporting events, and doing long form improv.

 

Ashley Rivard, Writer/Comedian – Founder of @SomedayILLgetThere: Ashley Rivard, aka @SomedayILLgetThere started her Instagram account almost a year ago. She used this platform to test out a TV Show concept she’s written about a kooky character who’s been single for 12 years... Using Instagram like a focus group for her sketches, she’s grown her account to nearly 50K followers in less than 12 months! Because of this insta-success, Ashley has begun to open many other doors for herself, including more substantial business relationships.

 

Gerry Maravilla, Head of Crowdfunding, Seed&Spark: Gerry Maravilla is an LA-based filmmaker and the Head of Crowdfunding at Seed&Spark. Gerry has made several award-winning shorts, including Cross, which he funded on Seed&Spark and went on to screen at the Newport Beach Film Festival, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and many more. Lisa Cecchini is the Vice President of Media and Analytics at Situation – a digital agency best known for helping brands build passionate communities through digital-first marketing strategies. She has been with Situation for over twelve years leading initiatives and innovations in online media, search engine marketing, quantitative research, and data analysis. Lisa has worked on a variety of clients including long-running Broadway hits Wicked and MAMMA MIA!, institutions such as The Metropolitan Opera, and live event brands like Wanderlust. Lisa actively leads agency initiatives that further the community development in digital through Situation-produced events and TEDxBroadway. Lisa is also a weekly contributor to The Broadway Briefing, the Broadway industry’s leading newsletter, penning articles about data trends. She has also spoken on panels and given presentations at Google and BroadwayCon and has moderated panels at Broadway League Road Conference. Additionally, Lisa is a guest lecturer on digital marketing for graduate students at Yale, Columbia, and Brooklyn College. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from James Madison University as well as a Masters in Marketing from Baruch College. In her spare time, you can find Lisa leading volunteers at a soup kitchen in or at Carnegie Hall where she performs with the Oratorio Society of New York.

 

Trea Lachowicz, Transactional, Entertainment, and New Media Attorney, Pierce Law Group LLP: Trea Tran Lachowicz is a partner at a boutique entertainment law firm. She has twenty years of experience and in-depth knowledge in entertainment (motion picture and television), digital new media, and technology, and an LL.M. in taxation with a solid background in commercial, corporate, finance, securities, intellectual property, and employment. Through her firm, Trea has acted as outside legal counsel for start-up, emerging, and established businesses, including domestic and international film and television production and distribution companies; independent film studios; new media commercial entities; and entertainment publishing companies. She has collaborated with their business executives and their counsels to effectively handle their business and legal affairs, and to support their operations and policies. Trea has strong development, production, finance, and distribution experience, including analyzing complex business and legal issues; and drafting and strategically negotiating all entertainment transactional agreements. She has direct experience working on domestic and international productions; and has worked on entertainment projects in various genres, including thriller, action, horror, comedy, and urban. These productions premiered at film festivals, as well as had theatrical and other format releases in the United States and internationally, including with Universal Pictures, Netflix, Showtime, Lionsgate / Summit / Grindstone, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Sony / Crackle. Her experience working on areas of intersection between acquisition, development, production, finance, and distribution has allowed her to see the big picture to anticipate and to preemptively address all entertainment legal issues. Trea received her Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University (1995), and her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School (1998). She also has an LL.M. in Taxation from University of San Diego, School of Law (2000). Trea is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society, and an executive member of Women in Film.

 

Viviana Zarragoitia, Vice President, Three Point Capital: Viviana Zarragoitia began her career in the entertainment industry working in production accounting at Millennium Films and Bold Films. She then spent 5 years at Lionsgate, where she started working in the accounting department and segued into the finance division, specifically, profit participation. While working in profit participation, she oversaw the preparation of multi-million dollar film and television distribution deals. She was then promoted to the group's audit division, where she managed film and television royalty audits of producers’ profit participation statements. In 2013, she joined Three Point Capital, a boutique firm that specializes in senior lending on film and television projects. While at Three Point Capital, Viviana has been involved in the financing of over 70 independent films, and worked with such producers as Cassian Elwes, Rob Barnum, Anthony Bregman, James Schamus, Aaron Gilbert, Kimberly Steward, Nicolas Chartier and Kevin Frakes, among others. As Vice President, Viviana closes the financing on every film that the company is involved in, as well as manage the company's operations in its satellite offices (Ohio, Kentucky and Louisiana). Viviana has received over a dozen Executive Producers credits on titles she has financed. She graduated Cum Laude with a double-major in Business and English from Loyola Marymount University.

 

ISABELLE LARUE, Creator Engineer Your Space: Isabelle is a building engineer, a DIY home design expert and the creator, producer and host of the original award winning DIY show “Engineer Your Space” (EYS). Affectionately referred to as “MacGyver and Martha Stewart’s love child”, Isabelle built a successful online business based on her passion for transforming less than perfect spaces into beautiful and functional homes. Her clever projects and jaw dropping room transformations have been featured in many well known online publications such as Oprah.com, HGTV.com and goodhousekeeping.com, her show is its third season, over 250,000 subscribers on Youtube and her how-to videos have garnered over 20 million views and counting. As active contributor as a DIY expert for many online communities, Isabelle reaches an even broader audience and most recently developed in-person and online design workshops to cater to an audience that seeks more personalized advice.

 

Bora Eristurk is the co-founder of Veloxity, Inc., a digital marketing technology startup based in Sunnyvale, CA. His roles include an emphasis on mobile data, consumer behavioral insights, and advertising technology platforms. Veloxity’s ambition is to understand consumers’ real-life behaviors and habits. Veloxity’s big data digital platform converts the data into knowledge and unique profiling about consumers, allowing marketers and advertisers to reach the right audience at the right time with the right offers, messaging. Prior to Veloxity, Bora was part of another startup that transforms network performance data to improve customer experience for telecom carriers. He served as the president of US operations for that startup. Previously, he held several senior positions with Deloitte Consultancy during his 7 years of tenure.
